Dry body brushing, though it has garnered popularity in the recent times, It has been in practice from ages in Ayurveda. It is one of the best ways to cleanse your lymphatic system.

How to dry brush your skin

In the traditional Ayurveda way a linen cloth was used to achieve the brushing effect. If you want better results you may use the natural bristles dry skin brush. Choose a brush that comes with a detachable handle so that you can reach all the nooks on your skin.

  • First things first- Dry brushing always working from farther away to eventually towards your heart. And it goes without saying that you always administer this process on your skin only when it is DRY.
  • Begin with holding the head of the brush and start from your feet. Always using long strokes in upward direction for a maximum of three times.
  • Divide the sections as long strokes in upward motion on feet, knee- o-ankle,thighs, circular motion on buttocks, long strokes encircling your rib cage, long strokes in upward motion on palms,forearms and elbow-to-shoulder.
  • You may dry brush you facial skin as well. But always do it ever so lightly in sweeping motions.
  • Follow up the session with a nice oil massage.
  • You can opt for castor oil, coconut oil or Olive oil.
  • If you are feeling fancy, do add few drops of your favorite essential oils.
