These recent remarks from these trailblazers that India takes pride in, may have shook up the media houses but not the employees around the country. Why? Simply because they have long been extending beyond their work hours for ages now with blured lines between work and personal life. At the cost of being naive, one might still want to believe in the greatness of these visionaries and pacify oneself thinking that they were just trying to push people to share their vision in seeing India at the top of the world but one can’t be too blind to not ask “But, At what cost?!”
Assuming that India will become number one country when we work 90 hours per week, let’s also try to answer the increase in obesity, diabetes and heart failures in young adults essentially working in the IT industry. Shouldn’t these visionaries, Techies and governments that turn blind eye to the camouflaged indenture labour be answerable to the hardworking citizens?
Rather than wait for the change in the whole society and people who have true power, Let us work on things that are indeed in our control. We may not have the power to change the entire system but we sure have the power on how we react to it.
