One common trait amongst humans across all cultures is to wish for the best and all the happiness in the whole world for their offsprings. But unknown to even them, Unlike love, parents’ blessings come with disclaimers.
“May you be successful” translates to “You are successful only when you get into IITs/IIMs/IISc/MBBS, See we are progressive and we are giving you a choice.”
“May you find a wonderful partner and be blessed with babies” translates to “A wonderful partner is the one who is from the same caste/religion/region/language/socio-economic status and babies are non-negotiable.”

You can also notice that these pre-fixated ideologies stem from fear. Fear of their children falling behind or their children not being able to survive in the world.
